Happy Valentine's Day!

Nothing says 'Happy Valentine's Day' quite like getting up at 6am to have to be at a basketball game at 7:30. Yes, I am very tired. However, I did enjoy my annual Valentine's Day gift:

Chocolate covered strawberries.
YUMMY. YUMMY. YUMMY.

What A Beautiful Day!

It was such a fabulous day today, I'm sorry that I spent most of it indoors. We did, however, go out at around 4:30 to the basketball court (Jason and Mason did) as I walked on the wonderful trail that we have here. It was nice to get out and walk after all this snow and ice that we have had this winter. It was just nice to walk and clear my head. I have been so overwhelmed and stressed lately, some things in my control, others not so much. I feel better and hope that the temp. can stay nice for awhile so that I can get outside again.

I found this awesome auction on eBay last week and I HAD to win, I have the winning part of eBay down, if I want something that bad, I will bid, bid and bid up until the last seconds!! I thought this was really cool:

I don't know what I am going to do with them just yet. I have, all the sudden, become fond of old keys, they are really cool! I was at the store, right here in town that has 3 levels of junk, antiques, etc. and I found a few more keys to add to the mix. Some of them are old hotel keys, when was the last time a hotel used keys?!

I also found this at the store:

I am going to give everyone that reads this blog a chance to win something that I make (a Robyn original! It may not be as good a gift as Tim Holtz gives away, but I can still dream!). So this is what you have to do: Tell me how many buttons are in this Mason Jar and post it in the comments. Whoever gets the closest, WINS!! I thought that would be fun! The jar is filled up to the very top, so good luck!

I had Jason stop at a cigar/smoke shop today to see if they give away any of their cigar boxes. I could do tons of things with them, so if they are free, even better, right!! So, he comes home with these:

I was over joyed! They were even better than regular cigar boxes, they are all wood and have nice markings on them, I will have fun with these. Good job, honey!

I have been checking out the produce section a little more now that Spring is on the way, hoping to try something new. I came across this:

The label said it was 'Uniq' fruit, I thought it was an 'Ugly' fruit (well, it was ugly, anyway), but it was SO delicious! It tasted like a cross between a grapefruit and an orange. Yummy!

That's all I've got!

{More Goodies}

First thing first, this is 'Have A Heart For Chained Dogs Week' (dogsdeservebetter.org) and I spent my Saturday stuffing valentine's to send out to over 8,000 chained dogs throughout the country (and other countries, too). Please read up on it and consider donating your time or money to this fantastic cause. It dawned on me Friday night that I had not made any cards for the event, so I got to it Friday night and whipped up these cards in a matter of about 1/2 an hour! Granted, they are not the best, but they worked!

Next up are some crafty things. Lately, I have been obsessed with the little glass bead/gems that have been on clearance at Walmart (and I feel the need to scarf them all up). At the same time I have been collecting little paint color chips to see what color I think would work in the dining room. So, I have all these little paint color cards and what to do with them?? Well, after massive amounts of hot glue and a ton of clear glass beads, I came up with this:

This is an old picture frame that I had lying around, and of course, I added some spray paint, then I just took the glass gems and grouted them in the picture frame.
Here is how to make the gems: Use any patterned, colored paper or ribbon (or tissue paper, or pictures, etc.) and sprinkle a little glitter in a small circle (you could do without the glitter, but isn't life better with it?), then put a small amount of hot glue on the back of the gem and quickly put it on top of the paper with the glitter on it. Then cut around the edges and there you have it, really pretty gems!

I got these old wooden boxes at the Goodwill a few weeks ago:

Once again, some spray paint does the trick! I had ordered some vintage valentine images from eBay and I think that they look great on the boxes. I mixed a little bit of old with new (the crystals), and of course, some red gems!

Have a great day, everyone, today is so nice, hopefully this is the Spring thaw that we have been waiting for! We got the dining room painted and it looks faboulous! I will post pics after I get all the decorations up.

{I can find potential in anything}

Take this for example:

Looking better already!

I have been on a thrift-store kick recently, looking for junk to alter and and put my little touch on.

Here is the final project:
{what better way to display it, huh?!}

I don't know if I am going to keep the bird in it, but it works for now!

I didn't intend for the finish to look this great (!!), it was purely accidental, but sometimes that's what works best! I had some spray paint out on my back deck and it had frozen, but it came out of the can in a spritz that was perfect! I think it gives it and 'old looking' finish.

I am getting ready to paint and decorate my dining room with some pictures and stuff that I had in the old house (we have been here for over a year now, I think it's time!), but I wanted to add some style all my own with some original art pieces. I think this will look nice with all the other things that I have for the dining room.

I found this shadow box with a faux topiary at the Goodwill awhile ago:

I finally got around to doing something with it. Just a little pulling apart, cleaning up, (you know, the fun part!) and figuring out what I want to do with it, I came up with this:

You can't see from the picture very well, but up in the corner is a group of stamps from a Pink Floyd CD that I bought on ebay, it came from Argentina and they were really cool looking stamps! The other items are: a lid to a wooden box, a swirly finial, an old piece of junk jewelry (the key) and a slinky jr., just stuff that I had lying around. I thought that it came together nicely. The clothes pin is to hold a picture, and to add a little more interest, I added 'legs' with red glass beads and a Tim Holtz arrow (I love everything about Tim Holtz!!).

So, I've been feeling creative lately and I wanted to share =) I have some other things, but I will save that for another post.

WOW WHAT A GAME!!

I thought for sure that the last touchdown that the Cardinals made was the end of the game--was I ever wrong (Jason would like to hear me say that I'm wrong!!). What an awesome game that was last night and my voice really shows it! We were screaming and jumping, good thing the neighbors are all Steeler fans, or we would have really made them mad! To top it all off, the temp. outside reached about 40 degrees and it was actually nice yesterday! Not as nice as Tampa was, of course! GO STEELERS!!

IT'S HALFTIME!!!

We are up by 10 points! What an awesome play James Harrison made right before halftime!! Yeah, let's hope the rest of the game is just as awesome!

Oh, and the commercials are horrible, I suppose it's because of the lack of $3 million dollars per 30 seconds for all the companies in financial hardship. I could also do without the suggestive and provocative commercials while my 8 year old is watching the game. I hope they get better!
